Maritime Consulting Firm Finds Home in Olde Towne
The City of Portsmouth is pleased to welcome Superior Marine Solutions, a new maritime industry consulting firm. The firm began business in March of this year and chose Olde Towne Portsmouth as their location due the city's close proximity to the area's shipyards and military bases. The company works primarily with the
Department of the Navy stakeholders to expedite emergent ship repair ensuring compliance with NAVSEA standards and guidelines. Superior Marine Solutions is currently working with multiple ship repair companies in the area to ensure accomplishment of repairs on time and budget. For the future, Superior Marine Solutions is working to develop additional contracts with the Navy.

Kenneth L. Chandler, has served as City Manager for almost 4 years. Mr. Chandler’s career in City Government has spanned over 20 years. He is a graduate of Morehouse College and holds a Master of Public Administration form Old Dominion University. Under his tenure as City Manager, Mr. Chandler has developed several initiatives such as “Destination Portsmouth”, a series of Adopted Development Strategies, Plans and Initiatives which will implement City Council’s award winning Comprehensive Plan, Destination 2025. He also implemented the “Biennial Budgeting Process
” and the “Budgeting For Outcomes” process designed to create a government that works better and costs less.
